At Plantel Los Angeles we have environmental regulations that allow us to produce gold efficiently and more environmentally friendly. Our state-of-the-art plant provides a mercury-free processing medium, preventing up to 2 tons of mercury per year from being discharged into the environment. We also have a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan that takes into account the conservation of soils, protection of natural water sources, as well as the management of solid waste.

Ensuring Legal Compliance

We develop our operations within the legal and regulatory framework of the country. Part of this compliance is evident in the environmental quality monitoring programs that we execute year after year, ensuring the participation of representatives of governement institutions and residents of the surrounding areas where we operate.
Water Harvesting Program

Aware of the important value of water for life, at Plantel Los Angeles we promote a water harvesting program. Our Santa Fe dam, a natural reservoir of 5,900 m3, which in addition to being an important shelter for various species, flora and fauna, also offers us the opportunity to ensure our operations.

In this area there is a richness in flowers with 128 species, including 12 orchids and three bromeliads. As for the faunal variety, there are species that permanently inhabit or take refuge during migrations at certain times of the year, such as birds, reptiles, insects, amphibians, and fish.
Responsible waste management

As part of our environmental policies, we promote the classification of waste as a key element for its correct management. We ensure that our waste is handled by certified companies for the treatment and final disposal of the same.
Reforestation

Together with MARENA, the municipalities, and other institutions interested in the issue, we have developed reforestation campaigns in the buffer zone of the Cerro Tumbé Reserve and other nearby areas.
